Bank Holiday Wedding

One of this years beautiful brides choose to get married on the August bank holiday.
The wedding's colour scheme contained shades of blue but rather than just having plain white or cream flower or adding the blue tones in to match with ribbons and beads Helen chose to have the complimenting colour of yellow this added warmth and was lovely and sunny perfect for August. The bride's posy was a simple round design of yellow roses and wonderfully scented cream freesia. The men had traditional yellow rose buttonholes.
The bridesmaid had a smaller version of the brides with the yellow roses and cream freesia and a flower girl had a silver wand with fresh flowers.
Also for the bridesmaid and flower girl and created silk flower head adornments, a headband for the bridesmaid and a dinky clip for the flower girl. I was rather pleased with how these turned out and matched up with the fresh flowers. I find it advisable to use silk flowers for head adornments as fresh flowers tend to wilt quicker with the heat from peoples heads.

Helen kindly let me have a couple of photos from the big day here you can see how nicely the yellow compliments the blue tones and how the head adornments look on the girls.
The photo below showing how even in a nontraditional dress flowers still look lovely and complete the bridal style.
I'm please Helen and family had a wonderful day and that she was pleased with her flower choices.

Lovely Sunshine Lovely Flowers.

This week at Snapdragons we have some lovely flowers available many for under £1 a stem. So why not add to the sunshine and brighten your day with a few.
I love the colour combination of lemon and lilac for spring and these Germini (95p each) and Stocks (85p each) fit this perfectly.

Looking for something simple and scented how about these gorgeous blue hyacinths and at just 75p each you can create a profusion of blooms.

Fancy something a little different how about one of our Cymbidium orchid stems. £3.40 each but they look stunning on their own and have quite alot of heads per stem.

So if you have something to say this week be it Thank-you, Happy Birthday or even I'm sorry why not say it with flowers.

Change around at the shop

Had abit of a move around of things at Snapdragons. Thought I would do a blog post to show you how things are looking now.
As much I personally loved the flowers in the back corner of the shop with the backdrop of the wallpaper I felt that maybe people weren't seeing them as much from the pavement so we have moved them back to in front of the counter. I've left the wooden dresser where it is with the cards in as this is a really good place for them.
Not wishing to move the crafts which had been working well in front of the counter on to the back wall we covered some of the box shelves with matching dotty cello and put the craft tables in front of them. I think this works well. Now with the depth of these on one side and the flowers on the other I have gone back to just having one central point of sale table will have to see how this works at peak times.
Many of the vases and containers from the box shelves are now displayed on shelves in the back corner in a way I feel this makes them more accessible and puts them at an easier height. The hand painted sign work has gone back on this wall and makes an eye pleasing display.
The silk flowers are in the front corner at the end of the craft displays.

Hope people like the rejigged layout pop in soon to see what lovely things we have available.

First Wedding of the year.

Here at Snapdragons we kicked off our wedding season early this year with our first wedding of the year being Valentines weekend.
Lyn chose a red and white with a hint of black colour scheme. We worked predominantly in silk for this wedding so the flowers could be kept as keepsakes after the event.
For the brides bouquet a modern style shower bouquet was chosen as this is a popular shape and nice for someone looking for something a touch different. The hint of black was added with some black feathers which added a nice warm texture for this time of year. A dash of bling was also added with a couple of different sorts of sparkles.

We also created some silk corsages in red roses and some fresh cream rose buttonholes for the men finished off the set.

Here are a few pictures kindly supplied by Lyn of her special day.

The bride supplied me with some photos of her parents which I was able to pop in to a little frame and add the to back of the bouquet so she could carry them down the aisle with her. This is becoming a popular way with brides to include a lost love one in to their special day and is something we are more than happy to do for our brides its your day and we work with you to make sure it includes the little personal touches you want.

We still have a few space left this year if you are planning your wedding pop in to discuss your floral needs.

Wedding Fair

Last Sunday we attending a wedding fair at The Grange and Links Hotel. It was a very pleasant day and we spoke to some lovely brides to be. Here's a few pictures of the stand.
Mini panic when we first arrived I tend to plan out how I think the stand will look and I usually plan for an oblong table bit surprised to find it was a round one but a few quick adjustments made it work.  I really how the boxes built height at the back and the bunting around the front looks lovely.
A little casual able center with a mixture of vases, this idea could be worked in lots of colours.

Brides bouquet and buttonhole example in soft peach and cream shades. If I had had a little more time to plan for this stand I would have gone with this years hot colours to be Rose Quarz and serenity, but I did make a board up showing the ten top colours for this year and the latest copy of wedding flowers magazine showing the peach trend help pull all this together.

There was quite abit of interest in the extras we took along as well such as wands for flowers girls or using in decorations, our tears of joy tissues perfect for proud mums and natural delphinium petal confetti. These things hopefully help the shop stand out in the minds of brides.

If you are planning your wedding this year we still have some spaces available so pop in to the shop for a chat to discuss your floral vision for your big day.
