Blooming again after the flood.
So the make over and move round in the shop is complete after the flood in August. The shop is now open as normal and looking forward to seeing all our lovely customers.
So lets have a look around the shop, the fresh flowers are now located on the back wall making use of the stunning wallpaper background.
Where the flowers were is now showcasing our handmade crafts
The shelves are showing off the range of vases and containers, remember our birthday sale is coming up a chance to pick up vases at a reduced price.
One window has a very seasonal autumn display full of warm oranges and browns.
Remember we have taking part in Macmillians worlds biggest coffee morning on Friday the 26th Of September pop in for some cake.

The flood and revamp.
Many of our customers will be aware we suffered from some flooding in the shop in early August this was due to a block mains drain coupled with a vast amount of rain, the drain would have coped if it hadn't been blocked so I'd just like to take this chance to urge people where ever they are not to put fat and un-flushables down their loos and sinks and this could happen. A professional company were brought in to dry-out and clean the building.
So after much drying and cleaning the shop was ready for a revamp. It has been given a lick of paint in a warm Victorian cream which matches with the cream parts on the outside which has also been given a spruce up. The floor and counter have had a new wood stain and the back wall is becoming a feature wall.
The shop will have some form of being open again from Wednesday the 10th of September but an ideal time to come and see how we are looking now could be at our Macmillian coffee morning on Friday the 26th where there will be cake.

Easter Demo for the WI
The local WI group asked me if I would attend their April meeting and give them a demonstration of Easter flowers. Here's the arrangements I created for them.
The first one was a tall elegant arrangement which included longiflorum lilies which are a very traditional flower for Easter. These were worked between the tall gold branches to create hight and structure. The base of the arrangement had a mass of glossy green foliage including fatsia and aspidistra leaves, two large white anthuriums were also added, and to balance out the gold branches dried lotus seed heads which had been sprayed gold were included.
The second arrangement I created and a bright spring feel. I took a plant pot shaped zinc pot and dressed it up with some sunny yellow ribbon this would tie in well with the bright yellow flowers. I wanted to create a wild garden look so filled the pot with Thlaspi Green Bell, this is a fairly new greenery on the florist scene and works well with the natural look many designs are going for at the moment. I then grouped my flowers included scented stocks, lemon germini which had dark centres which I felt tied in nicely with the dark pot, trendy craspidia and spring tulips. the arrangement was then finished off with fluffy Easter chicks and eggs.
Th think the ladies enjoyed the demonstration and it should them how you can create very contrasting designs on the same theme.
Also for another local WI I recently created a long low arrangement to sit in front of the lectern and the regional conference. I was very pleased with the design I created which included striking green bloom chrysanthemums and yellow germini.
I was plased with how the flowers sat and also liked the knitted bunting adorning the stage.

Fresh flowers
Just thought I'd post a few pictures of our current flower selection, because I feel we've got some lovely combinations going on at the minute.
The flower stand in the shop, nice bright fresh spring colours.
How about these delicate cream double Lisianthus paired with the gentle lilac September flower.
Or stunning large headed cream avalanche Roses with green Hypericum.
Or something a touch more modern Anthuriums in a striking purple colour.
Don't forget Mother's Day 30th of March is just around the corner, free delivery available in Burgh-le-Marsh on the Sunday.

Wedding Fair
At the weekend we attending a wedding fair at the Vine Hotel Skegness. This was the first wedding fair they had done for a while and was a good day with a select set of stalls. It was nice that they only had one of each type of stand, I feel this is good both for the exhibitors and the public, and meant that we spoke to just about everyone who came.
Here's some pictures of my stand, I was trying to go for a cottagey relaxed look for something different, because I feel big, extravagant and blingy has been done so many times, I wanted to look different from other stands at other fairs and trends are moving in this direction. I've also learnt that its better to have just a few select pieces that theme together than throwing everything you've got at a stand.
This was a mini top table display I created in fresh flowers, in peach and cream tones. this got alot of interest from people and shows that in this area people are still having the traditional top table.
This is a table centre I created using a selection of vases. A tall thin bottle has a stunning peach avalanche rose in it. A squat vintage style jar with green lace tied around the neck has tulips and pittosporum in it and a small milk style bottle has two paper straws and flag that says Love you in it, all are arranged on a mirror plate with doily. This shows that you don't need to have tones of flowers to create an impact and shows how little add ons like the straws can help bring a theme together. I lot of people liked the vintage jar vase and how simple but effective the display was, which I was please with because it was what I was aiming for.
Also showing how you can add the flora, natural touch with out too much budget was this heather plant in lovely dotty bag. This is finished off with a pair of flags saying "I do" "me too" for that wedding feel.
The fresh bridal bouquet I created was a simple casual posy of roses, hypericum, pittosporum and scented stocks, all tied with green lace ribbon. I felt it was something different to the solid rose, calla or gerbera posies that have been the fashion and fitting in well with the overall theme I was trying to create.
One bit of sparkle I did take with me was a new thing we are doing now at Snapdragons which is brooch bouquets. (I will be putting more up about this soon) This bouquet also fitted in with the vintage style and really caught the eye of many for its unusualness.
This was how the stand looked over all, I was particularly pleased with the bunting and the wooden boxes which really helped with the the theme, in the baskets in the middle of the table I had the delphinium petal confetti cone and some tears of joy tissues to show that we are more than a florist and can provide the extra finishing touches. Also the new set up with the screen presentation rather than my whole laptop being on the stand, this looks much better.
All in all a good day really nice to meet lots of brides and have a chat with other exhibitors, thanks to the vine for organising and keeping us all stocked up with tea and coffee.
If you are planning your wedding and looking for a bespoke florist, who will help you get the flowers that fit with you and your day rather than a set price package deal, come and have a chat with us.
