The first one was a tall elegant arrangement which included longiflorum lilies which are a very traditional flower for Easter. These were worked between the tall gold branches to create hight and structure. The base of the arrangement had a mass of glossy green foliage including fatsia and aspidistra leaves, two large white anthuriums were also added, and to balance out the gold branches dried lotus seed heads which had been sprayed gold were included.
The second arrangement I created and a bright spring feel. I took a plant pot shaped zinc pot and dressed it up with some sunny yellow ribbon this would tie in well with the bright yellow flowers. I wanted to create a wild garden look so filled the pot with Thlaspi Green Bell, this is a fairly new greenery on the florist scene and works well with the natural look many designs are going for at the moment. I then grouped my flowers included scented stocks, lemon germini which had dark centres which I felt tied in nicely with the dark pot, trendy craspidia and spring tulips. the arrangement was then finished off with fluffy Easter chicks and eggs.
Th think the ladies enjoyed the demonstration and it should them how you can create very contrasting designs on the same theme.
Also for another local WI I recently created a long low arrangement to sit in front of the lectern and the regional conference. I was very pleased with the design I created which included striking green bloom chrysanthemums and yellow germini.
